From the Heart of the Western Plains
Australian poet, lyricist, and playwright Maggie May Gordon draws deep inspiration from life on a remote sheep property in NSW. Her work—infused with the spirit of rural Australia—is brought to life through collaboration with regional artist Faye Gardiner and other local and international creatives.

Maggie’s lyrics have featured on radio, television, in concerts, and on CD. Her award-winning writing has been performed in schools, eisteddfods, and theatre. She is the original author and lyricist of Eureka! the Musical, nominated for Best Musical at the Helpmann Awards and for six Green Room Awards.

Her second theatrical work, SWAG the Musical—a love story set during the Great Depression—was launched by the Cowra Musical & Dramatic Society and received four CATS (Canberra Area Theatre) Award nominations.

During Covid, Maggie turned her creative focus to children’s books, earning the 2024 Children’s Champion Australia Day Award for her contribution to literature.
